What is digital dictation & transcription?
Digital dictation is revolutionising the workplace. It is the recording and storing of voice in a digital format using a digital recorder , phone or directly onto the computer's hard drive and can be done from the office, home or via a laptop in the car!
This voice file is transferred via e-mail or over the internet using a secure encrypted website as and when required.
The finished documents are then returned by the transcriptionist to the client via e-mail to the office, secretary or home! The client can then edit, print, save, etc, in the usual way.
Digital dictation has many advantages over the traditional outdated analogue recordings:-
- recording quality doesn't deteriorate over time
- recording quality doesn't deteriorate with repeated playback
- editing/Inserting dictation is easy with digital, difficult with analogue
- prioritising important parts of the recording is easy with digital, almost impossible with analogue
- recording time available can be several hours
